At that price I’m thinking it couldn’t hurt to try it. Thanks Fiske, looking at the Zhongzen right now. The Zhongzen is a no brainer choice in that group of four tripod adapters. The Zhongzen and Staoptics adapters each cost less than an extra mounting stud for the Vortex and Mutnt. The quick release/locking mechanism though is somewhat over engineered and tends to lock up for whatever reason. A nice feature of the Mutnt is that it has the narrowest width support, so something like the Maven b.5 10x56, which has wide barrels, can reach the narrowest IPD setting. ![]() A problem with the Vortex adapter is when it is tightened down the IPD cannot be adjusted. The Vortex and Mutnt adapters are expensive - like $70 and $80 USD respectively. I ordered four different adapters from Amazon - Vortex/Mutnt/Zhongzen/Staoptics. Couple of pics below to show you how tight it is.Īnyone use a quick release option for stargazing purposes?Įdited by cupton, 21 December 2021 - 10:49 AM. My Diamondbacks are my better 10x50 pair that I use the most often but they are a roof bino, so thats why I am trying to find a better solution to mount. Im a little worried about dropping the bino's as I try and manipulate them on. Attaching the Diamondbacks without gloves takes a little time and manipulation and with gloves, its that much more difficult. Its getting colder and gloves are now needed in the evenings where I am. I currently have the Barska binocular tripod adapter which is totally fine for my for my Pentax 20圆0s and does work for my Vortex Diamondback 10x50s but not without some effort and time to get it lined up and screwed on. Has anyone used any of the quick release options that are out there for their binocular mounts or are they even recommended for astronomy purposes? I started looking at some of the quick release options out there and seeing that they range anywhere from $30 - $120 with the Outdoorsman and Swarovski being the most recommended and most expensive units, I thought I would see if there's one or the other that would be recommended here. ![]()
